Been a busy summer and now fall @ Markel’s. Lots of Upholstery Jobs, big and small, 740 I New Drivers Seat and Back to Hot Rods, Rat Rods, Simple Furniture, Complex Furniture, Lots of Orthopedic Seat Adjustments on different cars, specifically horrific factory seat positioning on VW Jetta. We completed a 1968 Chevy Impala for a ton of restoration work. Ferrari’s have been coming in due to Dash Shrinkage all over the place. Wherein we remove the cluster and upholster it, amend and repair as necessary the pillar posts. other parts of the front and rear dashes in these all leather clad interiors.
Recently visiting the Enchanting Island of Bali, has given me a new perspective on present and future of life in and out of an automobile. Be comfortable is probably the most important thought in that direction. No matter where or what you are doing, or not doing. Coupled with eternal vigilance keeps your eye on the target. Enjoy some of the pictures of projects in works.
Another feature of our work here is the amelioration of EMF’s using Magnetic Shielding Foil. Whether you are driving a Toyota Prius, Highlander, Tesla, or Chevy Volt, you are all sitting in of intense electric waves of energy that some people feel are not good for you.
Busy Summer continues here at Markels. Lots of interesting and compelling projects in the works. A 1956 Corvette needed new seats, dash and custom padding to make client more comfortable.
Working on a 1924 Dodge Rat Rod for custom seat padding and tonneau cover. Make a simple clean cover for his 3 carburetors which are all exposed to the elements.
Here is a picture of a 1952 Olds Rocket 98 that we did the interior on about 5 years ago. Owner want some pickup work and to have his hood ornament chromed out.
Here are some pictures of a custom 1986 SEC Mercedes Benz Convertible. These are very difficult jobs on after market conversions. Nothing is correct or even on the frame, subsequently every aspect has to be modified.
The 1949 Mercury Convertible was finally picked up by our client after resting here for well over a year. Came out great, except the delay in timing on pickup.
At this time of year it is one of deep reflection for all our blessings and friends, loved ones and acquaintances.
Summer might be drawing to a close, but the need for convertibles in Southern California is keeping folks Tops down and Sunglasses on.
Doing Lots of New Tops, repairing falling Headliners and Seat Upholstery. Happy that the 1949 Mercury Convertible was finally picked up after living here for Far too long. Happy Client and gives us more room for new projects.
1960 Cadillac 4 Door Sedan is here for a complete interior and all the other assorted projects that keep us busy here @ Markels.
A high powered C.P.A.comes in and admits that his little Yorkshire Terrier is in charge of his Lexus IS F and has full reign.
We created a ramp to safely aide the bosses travel to and fro the rear seat.
Initial testing worked out well.
Ferrari’s like Rolls Royces, Masaratti’s, some BMW’s, Aston Martin’s and other exclusive manufacturers have a penchant for using leather on their dashboards.
Exposed to the Sun, things seem to shrink pretty quickly. Leather will even bend metal with enough heat and time.
This vehicle had shrinkage everywhere.
Worst was the instrument cluster and airbag fascia above the glove-box.
“My Convertible Top Mechanism Won’t Work Day”
This happens often enough that it is not a coincidence. 2 Identical 2005 Mustangs come to my shop because in both instances, The tops are not operating normally.
One has a dead motor, so in an effort to keep the costs down for client, they have opted out of repairing / replacing the motor and instead, we disconnected the hydraulic system and made the top work manually. Not easy, but it will work.
Sometimes, you have to find the simplest solution to a larger problem.
2nd Mustang is low on fluid, so we are looking for any possible leaks in the hydraulic lines and cylinders and filling up the motor so the system works again.
Weird in that the Mustangs are both Silver/Black. One client a Raider Nation member and sporting the fan license plate frame.
3rd Mustang had upholstery repair on the drivers seat back. With a happy client he came back to have us install a New Black Canvas top and Glass window.
